View Full Version : Hi...I'm new here!
I stumbled upon this site looking for info on how to clip wings. It sure seems like the place to be for getting questions answered! I got my first ever chickens at 1 week old in mid April. 8 Rhode Island Reds.

My husband of 19 years, my 73 yr old Mother and I (46yrs old) all love to watch these chicks, now almost 9 weeks old! We are having the most wonderful time raising them. We can't wait for our first brown egg!

We moved to East Tennessee from NE Pennsylvania in November. Tennessee is beautiful. We have 50 acres, and brought along from PA 1 black Lab, 4 cats & 6 horses! Now we have chickens too!!
Check out my blog on the website I have attatched with my member's list. I also posted some pics in the Gallery too.
See y'all later,
Kate
Darn I see my pics did not come thru, I'll work on that!

Hi Kate, and Welcome to poultryOne!! This is an awesome site, pretty neat people too. You have very pretty birds. Keep the pics coming, we all love to see each others critters.
Hi Kate. http://users.wildblue.net/r_lipsi/welcome.gif to the Poultry One board. Where at in N.E. PA are you from???
Those pics look just like mine. I have 13 R.I. Reds going on 13 weeks out of the incubator. Got the eggs from my 1 year olds purchased as chicks from TSC in Bloomsburg last year. Keep us posted on your progress and thanks for the pics. See you around the board .......
Hey Ron,
I was wondering in what part of NE PA YOU lived!!
We moved to TN from Reinholds, Lancaster County. The weather here is pretty much the same as PA, except the winters are a whole lot milder. Gotta love it!! I only wore my long underwear a couple times last winter, HA!
We love our RI Reds. My husband and Mom thought I was nuts when I said I wanted to get chickens. My husband likes to build stuff, so it was not too much of a chore for him to build my coop. We can't wait to eat our first homegrown brown eggs!!
I like to take pics, so I'm sure all y'all (Southern pronunciation ~ no Dutch accent here!) will be kept up to date. I love this Community Board!!
Peace,
Kate
PS: There are NO good potato chips down here, cooked in LARD ya know??!!

Hi Kate,
Those are some nice looking chickens. Tenn. is a beautiful state, congrats on the big move. Looking forward to seeing more pix.
Peace,
Sail
Kate. We live in the country between Berwick & Shickshinny on 20 + acres just over the Columbia county line in Luzerne county. When I first bought the property in 1981, it was mostly fields and old farm land. Well, the forest has taken over. I don't mind. Makes it more private. I retired in 1997 and built a house. I still feel like I'm on vacation ........ :)

Pretty birds! It is fun to see other pics :D
I'm glad to see other postings in the Photo Gallery. Keep them coming everyone!
Oh, and BTW, I posted some new ones I just took this morning of my chickens and pets.
Kate
Ron,
I finally got around to looking on the map where you live....beautiful country. My Mom, who moved to TN with us, lived in Lock Haven Clinton Co. We used to do a lot of horseback riding up there. Funny, but East Tennessee reminds us all of northern PA. Deep forests and mountains. We can see the Smokey Mtns from our front deck! Our house is in the woods, but we have horse pasture in front.
See you around the board....
Kate
