Mikey:
I've never known a poultry feed supplier that doesn't supply both Oyster Shell and Grit. Chickens need all three.
The confusion comes when you happen to get a feedstore clerk who doesn't know what you want. To add to the confusion some people ask for oyster shell grit. They're two different things, as Ron has advised, so ask for both and I'll bet they'll be able to help you. If the clerk can't, ask to speak with the manager, they're usually more knowledgable.

My family eats between 6 to 10 eggs a day so we always have shells and what we do is after breakfast we turn the water to hot in the sink and while holding the shell in one hand I use my thump to wash out the residue of the membrane left inside then turn them upside down either in the sink or on a paper towle to dry them I put them in a bowl with a lid..(I cant belive its not butter container) and then in a day or so I crush them up and mix it in with they Mash ..they love it
A word to the wise , make sure you wash them out well or you will get a stink that you will track back to your butter tub...Also I save up a week at a time
